Mission

Our Purpose

Pops Culture INC, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, is dedicated to empowering individuals to build unshakable confidence and confront mental and emotional challenges head-on. Our mission is to transform vulnerabilities into strengths, fostering resilience, self-belief, and community through transformative programs like BROH Baseball. We believe that by embracing our struggles with courage, we can shine brighter, as inspired by Matthew 5:16: “Let your light shine before others.”

At Pops Culture INC, we create safe, inclusive spaces where youth and families face their fears, develop mental toughness, and grow into leaders. Our flagship BROH Baseball Program uses an innovative triad structure—three teams rotating between hitting, infield, and outfield—to teach teamwork, accountability, and a “we not me” mindset. Serving ages 8-17, BROH empowers underserved youth through scholarships, mentorship, and skill-building, honoring the discipline of our service men and women.

Impact Statistics

Mental Health Crisis Among Youth: Globally, 1 in 7 adolescents (14%) aged 10-19 experience mental health conditions, such as anxiety (4.4% for ages 10-14, 5.5% for 15-19) or depression (1.4% for ages 10-14, 3.5% for 15-19), yet most remain untreated due to stigma and lack of access. This highlights the need for BROH Baseball’s focus on mental toughness through phantom reps and community support to help young athletes manage stress and build resilience.

Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) Impact: In 2021-2022, 34% of U.S. adolescents reported experiencing bullying, 17% faced emotional abuse by a parent, and 15% witnessed neighborhood violence, all linked to increased risks of mental health issues, substance use, and self-harm. Pops Culture INC’s safe, inclusive spaces, like BROH’s triad structure, provide supportive environments to counteract these adversities, fostering emotional stability

Mental Health Needs in Young Men: In 2022, 19.7% of U.S. men aged 18-44 experienced a mental illness, with young adults (18-25) showing the highest rate of any mental health concerns (33.7%) and serious mental illness (11.4%). Men are less likely to seek help, with only 40% receiving mental health services compared to 51.7% of women. Pops Culture INC’s emphasis on confronting vulnerabilities head-on directly addresses this gap, encouraging men to build emotional strength through programs.

Physical Activity Boosts Well-Being: 61% of U.S. adolescents aged 12-17 report being physically active for at least an hour most days, which supports mental and emotional health by reducing anxiety and depression symptoms. BROH Baseball’s active, engaging format promotes physical health, aligning with Pops Culture INC’s goal of holistic strength, especially for underserved youth who may lack access to such opportunities

Social Support Deficits: Only 50% of U.S. adolescents report having peer support “a lot of the time,” and 20% have unmet mental health care needs due to barriers like cost or stigma. Pops Culture INC’s community-driven programs, including BROH’s mentorship and team-oriented approach, provide critical social and emotional support, helping young people feel connected and valued.

Spiritual Wellness for Gen Z and Millennials: Over 50% of Gen Z and millennials (ages 18-35) report using spiritual practices (e.g., meditation, prayer) to address mental health challenges, with 33% of Gen Z and 26% of millennials citing social media as a platform to cope with health issues. Pops Culture INC’s integration of spiritual growth, inspired by Matthew 5:16, resonates with this trend, offering tools like BROH’s visualization drills to enhance spiritual and mental resilience.

Suicide Risk Among Young Men: Suicide rates among U.S. males aged 15-24 increased 57% from 2007 to 2018, with early 2020 estimates showing over 6,600 deaths in this age group. Pops Culture INC’s focus on turning vulnerabilities into strengths, through mentorship and community events like the golf fundraiser, directly addresses this crisis by providing young men with purpose and support to navigate emotional challenges.
